Job Summary
This position serves as a point of contact for the Human Resources division, creating a welcoming and professional environment for visitors, callers, and email inquiries. You’ll provide accurate information about HR services, offer support to employees, and assist HR professionals with a variety of confidential and technical tasks. Key responsibilities include supporting the daily operations of Human Resources, including but not limited to, managing tuition waiver applications, tracking performance evaluations, managing seniority rosters and employee work schedules, and maintaining personnel files.
Responsibilities include:
- Provides a high level of customer service as the first point of contact for the HR division either by phone, in person, or e-mail, answering basic questions or referring them onto a human resources team member concerning benefits, position vacancies, classification and compensation, payroll, leaves and search and selection to ensure customer satisfaction and adherence to college policies and procedures.
- Coordinates the filing of HR documents following divisional standard operating procedures.

- Provides support to all HR staff, as assigned, for occasional, re-occurring and on-going assignments/projects to ensure the smooth functioning of the HR Office.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, that reflect adequate response, tact, and accurate information with attention to sensitivity, diplomacy, and confidentiality
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate percentages and averages.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to refocus and concentrate on complicated issues with accuracy, in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to understand information sufficient to maintain complex records, files, notes, and logs.
- Associate’s degree in office management, HR or related area.
- Previous experience in HR.
- Three (3) years of administrative support experience.
- Basic knowledge of Federal and Minnesota employment laws.
- Basic knowledge of human resource management information systems.
- Basic understanding of the Minnesota Data Practices Act sufficient to describe the differences in public and private information.
- Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information with utmost discretion.
- Ability to collaborate and develop effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and at different levels in the College.
- A general knowledge and understanding of higher education processes.
