Bank Teller (Part Time)

The primary responsibility of this position is to pleasantly greet customers and assist them with their banking transactions. You will be expected to have a good knowledge of bank procedures & regulations, with special emphasis on BSA/AML regulations. You should have sufficient knowledge of bank products, so you are comfortable cross selling these items, or referring the customer to the proper department. You must be able to consistently balance your cash drawer.  You must be a team player.
Confidentiality – All customer information must be kept confidential.
Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand & walk to and from teller stations for up to 10 hours with only the required by law breaks.
  • Terminal/PC work requires a high degree of finger dexterity, good eyesight, and the ability to focus quickly.
  • Must be able to lift and transport 30 to 50 pounds in various forms, coin in containers from customer to coin machine, change coin bags when they are full, & lift full coin bags to dump into coin wrapper.
  • Must be physically able to Squat, Kneel, Twist, & Lift while carrying up to 30 pounds.
 
Mental Demands/Skill Requirements:
  • Participation in monthly teller contests
  • Must have a high degree of sales aptitude as well as the ability to effectively apply selling techniques to meet customer and bank expectations.
  • Participation in the teller referral program is required.   
  • Reading, writing, calculating, detail, and reasoning abilities
  • High math aptitude
  • Organized.  You will be responsible for helping to keep the teller line running smoothly.   
  • Able to multitask and deal with frequent interruptions.
  • Both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for problem solving for customers and staff.
  • Knowledge of bank Policies.  Have a good understanding of bank procedures regarding check cashing, endorsements, bank products & computer programs.  If not sure must know where to find the answer. Must have a good solid understanding of new programs & FDIC regulations; especially BSA/AML regulations.
 
Relationships:
  • Person will be directly responsible to the Teller Service Manager, for fulfillment of duties, responsibilities, authority, and proper interpretation.
  • Will have extensive contact with customers, public and staff; must conduct self in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the Bank.

  • Complete confidentiality.  What happens at work stays at work.  References to account balances or customers’ personal information cannot be shared.
  • Honesty:  The bank’s reputation is based on your reputation.
  • Professionally dressed.
  • Responsible. Must report on time and be ready for work whenever scheduled and be willing to fill in when scheduled staff is unable to work.
  • Receptive to customers.  When you take a request from a customer, you must be willing to follow through until the issue is resolved.
  • Attentive.  Ready to assist a customer as soon as they approach your teller station.
  • Approachable. Customers must feel comfortable asking you questions and voicing complaints.
 
Position Requirements:
Education:
  • Completed high school education.
 
Experience:
  • Money handling experience
  • Customer service experience
 
Skills:
  • Reading, writing, calculating, detail, and reasoning abilities
  • High math aptitude
  • Computer keyboard proficiency, word-processing and experienced internet user.
  • Excellent social interaction skills both in person and over the phone
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for customer & co-worker relations.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, including phones, copier, etc.
  • Possess a solid knowledge of bank products and be able to cross-sell those products.
Other:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
 
Normal Hours:
  • Hours will be determined on an on-going basis based on staffing needs; 20-30 hours/week. 
  • Saturday rotation: 9-12
  •  Attendance at various community functions, some outside of normal work hours will be required.
  • Attendance at various training sessions, both local & requiring extended driving may be required.
