Job Summary
To assist lead instructor with reinforcing didactic material and evaluating paramedic students in the EMS lab.

  1. Assist faculty with laboratory and simulation experiences.
  2. Lab Management- Preparation and Organization
 
Minimum Qualifications (required skills to enter the job; must be identified on application materials)          
  • Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in paramedic; AND One year of teaching/tutoring experience in the paramedic industry at the high school level or above.
OR
  • 4 years of work experience in the paramedic industry – no degree/certification/diploma/licensure required.
OR
  •  An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
  • Paramedic AAS degree, BA / BS in any field, registration or licensure as physician, physician’s assistant / nurse practitioner, registered nurse.
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience instructing prehospital providers
  • EMSRB Advanced Examiner
  • DOT Certified instructor
  • ACLS/ PALS Instructor
  • Field Training Officer
  • Knowledge of working with technical equipment, problem-solving/ maintenance of simulation equipment.
  • Knowledge of college goals and Ridgewater College’s mission.
  • Knowledge of Ridgewater College Nursing and/ or Medical Assistant Programs.
  • Knowledge of English Language Learners, computer skills, study skills, etc.
  • Communication skills (verbal, written) are essential.
  • Ability to learn to use simulation equipment, create moulage and support faculty as directed in simulation learning experiences. 
  • Ability to work independently in assisting students with lab resources.
  • Knowledge of student support services such as career development and educational planning.
  • Ability to work with administration, faculty, staff and agencies.
  • Knowledge of the ADA and other legal and privacy issues.
 
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position and position self to move at any given time. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, communicate with others and understand information. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb/balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • The position may also require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
