Housing Energy Auditor/Inspector - Marshall or Willmar (#1024K)

                                                           **$2,000 Sign-On Bonus**

 

JOB STATUS: Full time (40 hours/week), 12 Months Per Year

LOCATION: Marshall, MN or Willmar, MN

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Housing Energy Auditors/Inspectors coordinate housing services in assigned counties and cities where they visit people’s homes to run diagnostic testing and make recommendations based on the Minnesota Department of Commerce and the Department of Energy guidelines. Training will be provided to Energy Auditors/Inspectors in building science and diagnostic testing with the goal of becoming certified through the Building Performance Institute as a certified Building Analyst or Energy Auditor. This position analyzes saving to investment ratios, generates work orders, manages contractors who install the upgrades that are recommended and coordinates with the Weatherization Manager and Housing Director to ensure the program meets the standards of the Department of Energy.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Conducts inspections of each participant’s homes to ensure it meets program guidelines.
  • Responsible for project management of individual Housing program projects.
  • Effective communication to submit required statistics and reports, report to Housing Director and Housing Weatherization Manager, educate homeowners about basic energy conservation ideas as well as many other job-related items.
  • Participate in and support Agency Vision, Mission, Core Values and Team Guidelines, conduct outreach activities, and assist Agency, housing providers, and local communities with  development of coordinated delivery system.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and vehicles are maintained in a neat, orderly, and good state of operation and are repaired as necessary.
  • Support and model United’s Behavioral Competencies.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • One to two years post-secondary vocation training in construction, engineering, project management, building science or other related areas. Three to five years’ work experience in a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Must possess the ability to develop solid working knowledge of single-family housing, rental housing, multi-family housing and commercial construction management, materials and techniques, costs, Accessibility (ADA) standard, Housing Quality Standards, health and safety inspections and building code regulations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with participants, contractors, community government, and business leaders.
  • Must possess basic computer/keyboard skills.
  • Must have satisfactory background and driving record check.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to organize time and establish priorities based on daily changing program needs and multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to conduct energy audits.
  • Ability to obtain lead, asbestos and other certifications as required.
  • Ability to obtain Quality Control Inspector (QCI) and Energy Auditor certifications.
  • Ability to oversee construction worksite progress and coordinate with staff and relevant parties to complete projects within program guidelines.
  • Ability to travel out of the service area for meetings, workshops and conferences.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. independently.
