Design Drafter
Essential Duties
- Producing detailed drawings based on specifications.
- Following established design standards.
- Supporting the design team with technical documentation
- Detail parts and create shop drawings for fabrication from engineering designs and project notes
- Prepare approval drawings, revisions, and installation/erection drawings
- Develop construction details that comply with the overall design intent and project budget
- Ensure designs comply with company regulations and quality industry standards
- Prepare complete and concise design and construction drawings, check and coordinate details and dimensions
- Ensure ongoing review and verify documents are accurate and complete
- Assist in the verification of submittals and respond to requests for information
- Prepare shop drawings using Autodesk Inventor for the fabrication of metal parts
- Support construction projects with Revit & Auto CAD software
- Collaborate with project personnel to facilitate projects
- Support non-Revit users with AutoCAD file creation and maintenance from Revit, 2D and 3D files
Position Qualifications and Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Drafting and Design or related field OR
- 12 months of related experience preferred
- Knowledge of one or more software preferred:
- Autodesk Inventor
- SolidWorks
- Autodesk AutoCAD
- Autodesk Revit
- Bluebeam
- Procore
Preferred Skills (not required)
- Ability to read and understand architectural & structural construction documents
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details, etc.)
- Basic knowledge and ability to follow design codes
- Able to create drawings and models from written and verbal specifications
- Detailed understanding of all facets of project owner specifications and engineering drawings/ blueprints
- Fluency in reading 2D and 3D plans, electronically or hard copy
- Working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills
Physical Demands/Working Environment: The physical demands listed here represent those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position involves sitting/standing at a computer for extended periods of time and routinely standing and walking. Employee must be able to communicate effectively in a typical office environment with a standard level of office noise, as well as during job site visits with potentially higher noise levels.
Position occasionally requires visits to construction jobsites in various weather conditions and extreme temperatures. Exposure to dirt, dust, and other materials is routine and may require protective clothing and respirators. In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites. This includes high structures and/or scaffolds, climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
