Process Engineering Supervisor - Cheese & Liquid

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The basic function of this position is to instruct, support and aid direct staff with the overall process engineering activities within the Company.

AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY

• Accountable to assist in the preparation of project estimates according to company policy.
• Authority to hire, fire, promote, demote, or discipline those reporting directly to the position.
• Authority to schedule and direct personnel and the flow of work for direct reports.
• Authority to research or obtain internal or external assistance in designing systems.
• Authority to design systems within their area of expertise to fulfill our customer’s needs and RELCO goals.
• Authority to communicate, negotiate, and direct customers and internal staff as needed along with the project engineer’s knowledge, to complete projects to process specifications.
• Authority to make and/or approve design changes affecting the process during a project within contractual limits.
• Authority to approve purchases within the area of responsibility up to $5,000.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Staffing 

• Ensures there is adequate staffing within process engineering for cheese and liquid process systems. 
• Ensures the continuity of personnel within process engineering for cheese and Liquid Process systems direct reports. 
• Makes sure all direct reports are active in their functions, & that waste or non-productive time is held to a minimum. 

Systems/Equipment 

• Instructs, supports, & aids with the primary duties of direct staff: 
• Specify Systems & Equipment for Sales Orders & Quotations as a Primary Contact: 
  1. Cheese Systems & Liquid Process 
• Assist with Specify Systems & Equipment for Sales Orders & Quotations for: 
  1. Evaporators, Dryers, & Powder Packaging 

Future Staff Development 

• Instructs, supports, & aids the development of Project Engineers to Process Engineers through development & growth with Company’s current product lines: 
• Start-ups 
• Functional Descriptions 
• Process Modeling 
• Develop Plan for Organically Developing Process Engineers with Measurements & Budgets to Accomplish

Sales/Estimating Collaboration 

• Instructs, supports, & aids direct staff working in conjunction with Sales & Estimating teams: 
• Sales Write-ups 
• Estimation vs Scheduled Supply 
• Estimation vs Sales Team Offering 
• Sales Team Expectations vs Design 
• PID(s), PIELS, Buy Items, Manufactured Items, piping take offs, and controls estimation tie out with estimate.

Up to 25-40% of working time

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Education:                         Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Dairy Science, Chemistry, or equivalent in Dairy Manufacturing/Food Design experience

Experience:                       8+ years of previous experience in the food/beverage/dairy process industry

Knowledge:                       Proven Leadership experience
