Transfer Station Attendant - Willmar
The Transfer Station Attendant position is responsible for overseeing the daily operation and coordination of the transfer station processes and the cleanliness of the yard. They will operate equipment to bundle and transfer refuse and recyclable debris within the transfer station. This can be manual work and is subject to all variations of weather. This role interacts daily with nearly all drivers working out of the Willmar hub, as the route drivers end their day by dumping their load at the transfer station. Time management and flexibility are important facets of this position as tasks and requirements may change and require immediate action.
WAGE RANGE: $22.00 - $25.00 HOURLY (depending upon experience) LOCATION: WILLMAR YARD

SCHEDULE: SHIFTS 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM TYPICALLY MONDAY - FRIDAY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
- Must successfully complete and pass applicable pre-employment background check, driving record, physical and drug screening
- Ability to perform the physical requirements and demands of the position
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2-year Degree is preferred
- 2 years or more of relevant work experience in heavy equipment operation is preferred
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered adequate
- Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment (including the baler) at the facility, the ability to make minor repairs as necessary or determine and request when additional repairs/services are required
- Knowledge of potential hazards, applicable safety rules and compliance regulations
- Ability to perform required compliance testing at the facility, understand those results and knowledge of essential actions to stay within the compliance requirements of regulatory agencies
- Ability to operate all equipment skillfully and safely including pay loader, bobcat, skid loader & forklift
- Ability to carry out all instructions, often working independently. This position is not directly supervised and requires the individual to identify what needs to be done and when.

- Bale cardboard and recycling materials. Must stay on schedule to keep ahead of incoming loads. This allows space for additional loads being dumped midmorning and early afternoon each day.
- Load semi-trailers with baled cardboard and recycling and/or loose trash debris
- Ensure that work is completed as scheduled in accordance with established procedures, rules, and regulations
- Direct incoming vehicles to proper disposal areas and check those vehicles for appropriate identification
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment and facilities; including clean-up of the transfer station itself, pick-up of debris and maintenance of separation bins in accordance with rules and regulations (at minimum weekly)
- Supervise, inspect, and manage the separation of materials brought on site, ensuring that materials are safe, correctly disposed of and do not contain prohibited items
- Keep records of all recycling incoming and outgoing. Bills of Lading must be provided to all internal and third-party contractor drivers.
- Complete accurate annual/quarterly reporting of transfer station activities and incidents as required
- Plow parking areas and the yard before and during snow events
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of procedures for packaging, storing, transporting, and disposing of trash/recyclable debris
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of hazardous communications designed to protect employees on-site
- Demonstrate efforts to improve operations and streamline processes within the transfer station
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize tasks, and manage time well
- Ability to work with and support co-workers and team members
- Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
- Willingness to work extra time and/or do extra tasks on certain days as needed
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures

- Ability to safely lift objects weighing 25 pounds
- Ability to safely push, pull, bend, twist, sit, stand, and frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects up to 75 pounds
- Ability to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.)
- Ability to hear at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with others
