The Purchasing Manager oversees all product procurement, costing, existing vendor relations, inventory control, and product replenishment for our national footprint.

Our headquarters, manufacturing facility, and primary distribution facility is located in Willmar, Minnesota with 19 regional distribution centers located throughout the U.S.

Purchasing Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day activities of the purchasing department. Managing future price adjustments/changes, buying discounts, terms, freight/shipping, P.O. placement and tracking, lead-time, delivery, warranty, obsolescence, and product information.
- Maintain, track, adjust and forecast acceptable inventory “min/max” levels, last sale/lost sale, obsolescence and product mix within all distribution centers; to maximize each facility’s footprint and warehousing potential; minimize all factors which negatively affect the cost of goods.
- Keep current and maintain within our system accurate landed cost of goods pricing, freight calculations/add-ons and any associated charges or product subcomponents in determining actual net cost by sku.
- Ensure all purchasing staff coordinate, monitor and track all outstanding PO’s back-orders or transfers to be delivered on time, or to reasonably shorten the product delivery schedule of all containers and/or shipments to all Northern Radiator facilities.
- Manage staff by conducting employee performance reviews, counseling, coaching and disciplining employees; plan, monitor, and appraise staff job objectives and results. Foster a well-organized work environment that maximizes teamwork, employee engagement, and morale.
- Attend and represent company in meetings, travel to vendors, manufacturers, trade shows and conferences as required.
Job Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in purchasing/buying, inventory control, and staff management.
- Experience and expertise with Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) global sourcing, international vendors, manufacturers, agencies and shipping and receiving procedures, preferred.
- Experience and high proficiency in ERP systems, supply chain analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, record keeping, scheduling, dead-line maintenance, multi-tasking and problem solving skills.
