Growmobile Staff

Do you know any senior in high school or college age student on a path towards teaching or any current or retired school professional who would love to stay busy this summer reading and leading activities with children?!

We have an opportunity for 2 or 3 people interested to participate in our long running Growmobile program which is our unique way to “prevent summer slide” with fun learning activities in our region.

Title: Growmobile Staff
Supervisor: Executive Director
Compensation: $14-17/hr
Hours: 25-35 hrs/wk
Timeframe: June - August, and potential special events throughout the year
 
Job Description: The Growmobile is a program of the United Way of West Central MN that provides a mobile preschool/kindergarten, available to all kids. The Growmobile hosts a 45-55 minute school session at designated parks or apartments around Willmar and neighboring towns within the United Way of West Central MN service area during the summer. This program is a community initiative unique to our region and allows young leaders to work with volunteers, businesses, agencies, schools and more. The Growmobile staff will work with honesty and integrity to fulfill their important role in preventing “summer slide” and helping to prepare our community’s children for school.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lesson activities with guidance by Growmobile Coordinator
  • Teach the lesson plans created by Growmobile Coordinator
  • Observe verbal and nonverbal feedback given by children
  • Observe the surrounding environments and communicate changes to the Executive Director and/or Coordinator as appropriate/needed such as safety, weather events, number of children present
  • Potentially provide Growmobile lesson activities at special events such as Rockin Robbins, Litchfield Watercade, town festivals, etc.
  • Safely drive the Growmobile
  • Positively represent United Way and the Growmobile

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Preferred Interest in Early Childhood Development or Teaching and Education
