Construction Administrator

Essential duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Project Manager, design team, engineers, and other project consultants in planning project delivery.
- Meet with project team members on a regular basis to monitor work in progress and to assure that the firm’s best practice standards and procedures are being implemented.
- Develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the life of a project.
- Clearly communicate design, construction, and other issues to clients and consultants.
- Develop partnering relationships with clients to establish shared expectations, provide clarity on how we will work together, describe how key stakeholders will be involved, and describe how project schedule will be managed.
- Ensure appropriate client and internal communication, including written project documentation.
- Understand contractual obligations to clients and projects to ensure that Engan Assoc. team delivers on expectations for scope of work and required services.
- Work proactively with clients to identify and obtain approvals for additions to scope of work or services prior to undertaking the work. Proactively communicate with and influence clients to approve and process payables for firm’s services.
- Manage implementation of the project design during construction process.
- Maintain project records, including but not limited to capturing and documenting key decisions and records within the Engan Assoc. standard file structure.
- Serve as on-site project representative:
- Oversee construction administration tasks
- Perform site observations during construction
- Verify field measurements and as-built documentation
- Prepare, review, and distribute weekly and monthly project reports and meeting minutes
- Review and respond to field issues/conflicts
- Review and respond to contract pay applications and contract change orders
- Coordinate subconsultants’ work
- Work on multiple projects with concurrent deadlines
- Remain composed and professional when presented with uncomfortable or difficult situations
- Ensure that all statutory requirements for the project are achieved.
- Manage QA/QC process, including monitoring of the technical quality of projects; enforcing the application of QA/QC process standards and requirements; and serving as an active participant in the QAQC process.
- Participate in business development and marketing activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Note: This position may require climbing ladders and navigating uneven terrain, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. May need to be able to pass a background check for clearance on projects.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to read, understand and review project plans and specifications; cost estimates; project schedules; and contract terms.
- Ability to travel regularly
- Microsoft Office proficiency
