Nutrient Management & Feedlot Compliance Specialist

Position Overview
Anez Consulting, Inc. is seeking a full-time Nutrient Management & Feedlot Compliance Specialist to support agricultural clients with manure management planning, nutrient utilization, and regulatory compliance. This role is critical in maintaining high-quality service and ensuring adherence to Minnesota environmental regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy, livestock systems, or environmental compliance, with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with producers and regulatory agencies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and update Nutrient Management Plans (NMPs) and Manure Management Plans (MMPs)
  • Calculate manure application rates based on soil tests, crop needs, and current fertilizer values
  • Assist clients with compliance under MPCA Feedlot Rules (Chapter 7020) and applicable county ordinances
  • Prepare and maintain required records and reports, including annual and regulatory filings (e.g., NPDES/SDS where applicable)
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate manure storage, land application practices, and compliance status
  • Support livestock permitting processes at the county and state level
  • Provide technical guidance to clients on best management practices for nutrient utilization and environmental stewardship
Qualifications
Required:
  • Degree or relevant experience in Agronomy, Soil Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Systems, or related field
  • Working knowledge of manure management, nutrient planning, or crop production systems
  • Ability to interpret soil and manure tests and develop agronomic recommendations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally
  • Ability to assist with other technical services provided by Anez Consulting
Work Structure
  • Full-time position with flexible scheduling
  • Hours may vary seasonally, with increased workload during planning and application periods. Some long hours will be required seasonally as well as outdoor work.
