About Us

In 1937, Rice Memorial Hospital was established with a legacy gift from Colonel Cushman A. Rice (1878 -1932) to the City of Willmar, in memory of his parents – Lieutenant Governor Albert E. (1847 - 1912) and Sophia L. (1854 -1914) Rice.

Rice Health Foundation was established in 1986 to continue the Tradition of Caring through philanthropy and achieve Rice Memorial Hospital’s healing mission.

In 2020, Rice Health Foundation Board of Directors voted to rename the Foundation to support Carris Health, a new strategic partnership between Rice Memorial Hospital, and three legacy organizations - Affiliated Community Medical Center, Redwood Area Hospital and Redwood Area Hospital Foundation.

Although the name has changed, Carris Health Foundation remains committed to improving the health of residents in west central and southwest Minnesota served by Carris Health. Gifts to the Foundation are investments in our communities, our children, and our children’s children, because health means everything.

All charitable gifts to Carris Health Foundation fund community health needs, enhance patient care and improve health education, to keeping quality healthcare services local.
