Service Technician – Compact Equipment @ Willmar

Purpose 
Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned compact equipment. 
 
 
Responsibilities 

  • Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology and other brand equipment
  • Performs diagnostics and repairs in the field as required  
  • Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders  
  • Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information 
  • Completes training required for the development of skills and knowledge 
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities 
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion 
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments 
  • Works cooperatively in a team environment 
  • Demonstrates a good work ethic
  • Employs good time management skills and the ability to work independently
  • Exhibits a constant commitment to customer service   
  • Communicates effectively one-on-one and in groups
  • Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with peers and management
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products   
 
  
Experience, Skills and Knowledge  
  • 1+ years experience performing service repairs or technical college certification preferred
  • Demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred 
  • Experience performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures on machines of the technician’s specialty 
  • Experience with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in agriculture, off road, construction, turf or heavy equipment 
  • Experience operating vehicles, tools and equipment for diagnostic purposes 
  • Able to lift, bend and carry
  • Experience with basic computer functions
  • Experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred  
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record required  
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred
